Cataclysm 2.0
created by:Michael on 22 Oct 2011

Blizzard has come out with the third expansion to their already well-established Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. This newest expansion is the biggest game changer in the history of the game! Azeroth has changed entirely since Deathwing returned. Along with the return of one of the largest enemies of Azeroth, players will also see a series of changes to the world including: New characters, new race-class combinations and (the biggest change), the landscape of Azeroth itself.

To begin, Deathwing once went by the name of Neltharion when he was the Earth-Warder. Since his acts in the second war he has been chased off into the elemental plane Deepholm. From there, he regained his strength and literally tore his way back into Azeroth, leaving a huge wake of destruction. Deathwing plays a massive role within the new expansion and is the main antagonist of Cataclysm.

The new characters that are being introduced to the World of Warcraft are the Goblins for the Horde and the Worgens for the Alliance. Some Goblins have decided that they will no longer be neutral and joined the ranks of the Horde. The Worgen have been taken into the arms of the Alliance to see if they can regain any of the humanity that they lost within their transformation into werewolves. Each of these races brings with it new starting zones unique to their own back story.

Other things being introduced into the game are a new level cap of eighty-five, a new profession and never-before-seen race-class combinations. With the level cap, the game brings new levels for their professions as well as basic skill and talent trees. The new profession, archeology, allows for new discovery of the worlds’ systems. Every race will see at least one new class to choose from with this expansion.

One of the biggest upgrades this expansion brings is to the landscape. There are no zones left unchanged by the return of the Black One (Deathwing). The biggest change is in the main leveling area for the Horde-- known as ‘The Barrens’. In the wake of destruction Deathwing brought, The Barrens have been torn in half. A huge central stream of lava splits the zone with one half raised higher than the other in certain sections.

With everything there is to do in this new expansion, there will be no time for sleep, food or washroom breaks (unless you’re on a flight path of course). Dedicated players will be in a frenzy to get the new toys and create the first Worgen or Goblin to reach level eighty-five. All in all the World of Warcraft game series will never become stale; Blizzard knows just what their people want and how to deliver it.
